YC17 Q & A
Question – What can you tell us about registration?
Answer - Registration starts at 3 PM on Wednesday at YMCA. You can register your students and then we pass out room keys after dinner. The convention ends Sunday with lunch.
Question – What can you tell us about bedding?
Answer – The bedding IS provided once you are at YC17! This is why it takes a while for us to get the keys for our rooms.
Question – What can you tell us about the meals offered during YC17?
Answer – All of the meals are provided as long as you eat on campus. This means that on Sunday the 30th when we leave, breakfast AND lunch are included in our registration cost. The first meal is dinner on Wednesday. then the 3 meals each day (Thursday, Friday, Saturday in addition to Sunday breakfast and lunch.
Question – What can you tell us about departure details as the convention ends?
Answer - If you make arrangements with the YMCA for bag lunches please know this.
- It is not included in your fee.
- They will charge you and it is cheaper to eat at McDonalds.
- YC17 (or the CLB) will not cover the cost of bag lunches.
- If we get the charge we will charge it back to your church.
- Our best suggestion is that you stay for lunch but if you have to leave early, that you eat on the road.
Question - What can you tell us about the packing list?
Answer - The bedding noted in the packing list pertains to your travel arrangements. At the YMCA the bedding is provided. If you are sleeping on the floor of a church then you will need that stuff. If you are in a hotel then you won't. Bedding includes the blankets, sheets, pillows, and even the towels.
Question - For YC '13 there was a booklet with questions that related to the Pastors' messages. Would we be able to have something for our small groups this year?
Answer - We are working on booklets. I am not sure how much will be in the booklets for that, but we can have some questions for your youth group share time put together.
We are working out what all will be in the booklet this year. We're leaving it more open for notes now and trusting the leaders to guide conversation towards what their individual groups need. It's helpful for a leader to take notes and to write down questions the speaker asks and then repeat them in smaller groups.
We get to spend a little time with the speakers each morning to hear from them on where they are going. We don't ask the speakers for outlines and points to put in the booklets.
I would like to encourage each of you to look at our theme “Break Every Chain” and to look at our main text (Gal. 5:1) and start to identify how we are chained to our sin and how Christ frees us from our sin.
We will make sure you are prepared for this time of reflection!
Question - Are there any churches willing to take us in for a night?
Answer – One might be the church in Arvada.
Question - Do us Canadians need travel health insurance while down there for YC? For example, on the registration form, would Canadians put their current health-insurance provider from here in Canada, or does it require US travel insurance?
Answer - Talk to Dean Rostad.
Question - Will there be any shuttle service from Denver for those flying in?
Answer - No. We don't provide any transportation!
Question - Will there be a possibility for a sign language interpreter?
Answer - At this point there will not be an interpreter. We always provide one when there is a need but nothing has been said to us up until this point of a need for one.
Question - Will there be extra t-shirts at YC17 for those who don't order in advance?
Answer – Yes, but a limited amount.
Question – Do we need to sign up for the recreation options before hand or is all that included with our registration for the convention? For example, if one of my youth wanted to go horseback riding, do I need to set that up and pay for that separate or is that included and we sign up when we get there?
Answer - Yes and No. If it's swimming, dodgeball, basketball than no. If it's horseback riding or something that YMCA of the Rockies provides you might want to try to sign up beforehand. Some things required parent signatures on a waiver, like zip lining I remember, and it was booked almost every slot for several days in advance two years ago when I was there. We will have sign-ups for Volleyball, Dodgeball, and Ultimate Frisbee the first night of YC17.
